20 Firefighters Killed

By the end of the 1931 fire season, 20 firefighters would be KILLED fighting Forest Service blazes. We’ll be reading more on this evening (Tuesday)┬áduring Montana History up at Shelby’s Marias Heritage Center. We’re currently reading the book, “Montana’s Waldron Creek Fire; The 1931 Tragedy & The Forgotten Five,” by Missoula’s Dr. Charles Palmer. 5 Men DIED fighting the devastating Waldron Creek Fire west of Choteau, back on August 25, 1931. It’s a page turner AND a page “burner” for sure. Hope to see you tonight at 6 for more Montana History at the Heritage. No smoking allowed.
