(UNDATED) – OUR KSEN/K96 – BOZEMAN TROPHY ATHLETES OF THE WEEK THIS WEEK PROVE THAT YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE BIG TO MAKE A BIG IMPACT. BOTH ARE SMALL IN BODY FRAME BUT BIG PERFORMERS IN THEIR INDIVIDUAL SPORT.

YOU KNOW OUR MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK. THREE-TIME DEFENDING STATE CHAMPION LUKE SCHLOSSER OF CONRAD. LUKE HAS LOST ONLY ONCE THIS SEASON BUT HE HAS AVENGED THAT LOSS TWICE NOW, INCLUDING IN A DRAMATIC FINISH AT THE CMR HOLIDAY INVITATIONAL BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

LUKE WON 4-3 BUT NOT BEFORE USING A STRATEGIC MOVE GIVING POINTS AWAY AND THEN CHOOSING A NEUTRAL POSITION TO RE-START THE MATCH SO THAT HE COULD HOPEFULLY GET A TAKEDOWN, WHICH HE DID AS THE BUZZER WENT OFF. HE SAID, “IT WAS THE TOUGHEST MATCH I’VE EVER DRAWN.”

THE MATCH WAS AGAINST DEFENDING AA STATE CHAMPION GABE SCHROECK OF HELENA HIGH. IT JUST SO HAPPENS THAT THE WIN WAS SCHLOSSER’S 200TH WIN IN HIS JR. HIGH AND H.S. CAREER.

HE IS NOW 124-6 IN HIS H.S. CAREER AND 23-1 THIS SEASON.

THIS PAST WEEKEND, LUKE AGAIN WON THE 119 POUND CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE CUT BANK INVITATIONAL AND WAS NAMED THE LOWER WEIGHT CLASS OUTSTANDING WRESTLER OF THE TOURNAMENT.

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS WAS CLOSE BETWEEN TWO BASKETBALL PLAYERS THAT LIT UP THE SCOREBOARDS. THE NOD GOES TO 5-4 JR. MARTI EAGLEFEATHERS OF THE BROWNING LADY INDIANS. EAGLEFEATHERS SCORED 24 POINTS IN EACH OF TWO BROWNING VICTORIES OVER CUT BANK AND CONRAD. THE VERY QUICK BROWNING GUARD ALSO DISHED OFF A HEALTHY NUMBER OF ASSISTS AND HAD HER SHARE OF STEALS IN BOTH GAMES.

WE ALSO HAD A QUALIFIED NOMINATION FOR JR. ALISHA BREEN OF CHOTEAU WHO HAD A COMBINED 37 POINTS IN WINS OVER CUT BANK AND CONRAD. SHE ALSO HAD 9 ASSISTS, 22 REBOUNDS, 5 BLOCKED SHOTS AND 7 STEALS IN TWO CHOTEAU WINS.
