The 6th annual Beautiful Minds Walk is coming up two weeks from this Saturday, June 16th down in Great Falls. The Beautiful Minds Walk raises awareness about recovery from mental illness while raising funds for the Center for Mental Health clients to attend conferences, purchase equipment, go on group outings and for emergency medications. It is a GOOD thing! The Center for Mental Health serves more than 6000 people in 13 central Montana counties including Toole County. The Toole County mental health facility is located at 925 Oilfield Avenue here in Shelby. The honorary chairs for this year's walk are the Dennis and Jan Conner family. The family has taken part for the past few years in memory of their son Michael Conner. Michael was a talented musician who battled schizophrenia. Registration and booths at this year's walk open at 11 in the morning at the Montana ExpoPark. This year's walk features music by the Drum Brothers who will lead a drum circle at the event. To register for the walk, register a team or join a team, I invite you to visit center4mh.org or call 791 9509. Being on the board of our Toole County Center 4 Mental Health these past few years has been a real learning experience for me and has certainly opened my eyes and heart and made me aware how fragile a thing mental health is, and how it affects all of our community. Hope to see you Saturday, June 16th for the 6th annual walk down in Great Falls.
