All across Montana, 1 room schoolhouses decay & collapse in the face of our state's harsh climate. Through personal interviews & stirring photographs, Charlotte Caldwell tells the stories of 1 room schoolhouses & the people who spent time time in her BEAUTIFUL coffee table presentation that's up for grabs this afternoon (Monday) at 4:30 on Puffman Musical Trivia. In Charlotte's expansive book, "Visions and Voices; Montana's One-Room Schoolhouses" through personal interviews & stirring photographs, she tells the stories of 1 room schoolhouses & the people who spent time there. The charm of the 1 room schoolhouse speaks to readers across the country & certainly resonates well with those of here living here in the in Golden Triangle. You'll particularly enjoy the section (pages 142 through 177) on Toole, Glacier, Pondera, Teton, & Liberty counties. The photography is outstanding & the writing literally fascinating."Visions and Voices"  with foreword by Ivan Doug & edited by Linda A. Grosskopf from Barn Board Press out of Clyde, Montana is available at area bookstores & gift shops, through online retailers, or from Farcountry Press at 1 800 821 3874, www.farcountrypress.com. The 1st caller in this afternoon at 4:30 with the correct answer to my musical trivia question WINS this KEEPER! I've come up with a trivia question pertaining to one of the all time great movie musicals from 1954 for this afternoon's Puffman Musical Trivia. So many folks love & remember the old 1 room schoolhouse...even the world famous Tina Turner gave her support to the restoration of a 1 room schoolhouse where she was was a student. More than 100 people showed up for an opening ceremony of the Tina Turner Museum at Flagg Grove School down in Brownsville, Tennessee last Friday! Charlotte Caldwell herself was raised on Lookout Mountain, Tennessee & divides her time between her ranch outside Clyde Park, Montana & historic downtown Charleston, South Carolina. By the way, Charlotte is dedicating 100%(!) of the net profits from the book to the Preserve Montana Fund, which preserves Montana's rich heritage to secure the future of Montana's past. Funds from sales of the book will be used to stabilize roofs & foundations & protect exteriors of historic 1 room schoolhouses. The Montana State Library & Humanities Montana selected "Visions and Voices" to represent the state at the Library of Congress National Book Festival in Washington, D.C. last month. This is, indeed, one of the nicest books I have ever given away on Puffman Musical Trivia where "The Winning Is Only Beginning."
