A Penny For Your Thoughts

Make that a “penny post card”! Philip J. Burgess’s “Penny Post Cards and Prairie Flowers” is the next book that I’ll be reading during Montana History up at the Marias Heritage Center here in Shelby. I met Philip at Montana Storytellers this past spring in Cut Bank, & the man tells & writes quite the story. Philip lives in Missoula these days where he spends most of his time telling stories, daydreaming, & writing-& making frequent road trips back to his native hills in eastern Montana, where he has yet to fall off a horse (unlike Jim Anderson down at Grizzly Sports/Grizzly Auto in Choteau!). Phillip’s appearance at the Montana Storytellers Roundup was fascinating & I can’t wait to begin reading his book at our Tuesday evening Montana History at the Heritage. I’ll be there tonight (Tuesday) at 6 to continue with our current read, “The Hi-Line; Profiles Of A Montana Land” by Daniel N. Vichorek. We’ll be reading about the Bear’s Paw Battlefield along with a chapter on Havre this evening. I’ll see you tonight at 6 in the Sun Room at the Heritage. That’s me, the Puffman, always trying to bring a little bit of SUN into people’s lives…just ask my coworkers!
