AC/DC, Pink Floyd + Other Band-Branded Libations Reviewed During New York Wine Tasting

With the onslaught of rock bands marketing their own brands of libations, Billboard elected to examine several such beverages via a wine tasting panel at New York’s City Winery. They sipped, sampled and sounded off about 12 wines from the likes of AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Motorhead, Warrant, Ratt, Whitesnake and more.

The panel consisted of Michael Dorf, the owner of City Winery and the founder of the Knitting Factory venue; Robert Haynes-Peterson, a wine and spirits journalist; Matt Weiss, a professional sommelier, which is an expert well-versed in pairings of wine and food in restaurants; and Bill Werde, who serves the editorial director of Billboard.

So before you shill out cash on artist-branded wines, watch these videos to learn about the flavors and the vibes of these brews.

The panel liked AC/DC’s ‘Back in Black’ shiraz, since it is inspired by the band’s big bass sound, while Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ cabernet sauvignon stood out for its practicality and its drinkability. It’s an American wine from a British band, but the person that likes Floyd and buys this libation will be comfortable with their purchase. Raise a glass!
