The book that we're currently reading up at the Marias Heritage Center here in Shelby, "Girl from the Gulches: The Story of Mary Ronan" as told to Margaret Ronan & edited by Ellen Baumler is a "Women Writing The West Finalist Willa Literary Award Finalist" & this comes as no surprise after reading the first 75 pages. I'm looking forward to going up to the Heritage Center (Tuesday) at 6 to read more during out "Montana History" this evening. I encourage you to check out this fine "Montana read" from the Montana Historical Society Press in Helena at: www.montanahistoricalsociety.org. The exhilaration of a forbidden sled ride, the creaking of the hangman's rope (we read about that deal last week), Mary Ronan's father giving the last of their water to his dying mule..it's all here & more. I never dreamed that reading history would be so interesting. See you tonight at 6 at the Marias Heritage Center for more Montana HISTORY!
