The news of Aaron Hernandez’s arrest and murder charges place the former New England Patriots tight end at the end of a long list of troubled star athletes.

Since the 2013 Super Bowl, 27 NFL players have been arrested. Twenty-seven players in just a few months? Yikes. The NFL cannot be too happy about that.

But it’s not just football players who’ve been running afoul of the law. The NBA has had several notable instances of law breaking—remember the Portland Jail-Blazers of not too long ago? And in Major League Baseball, the trouble usually comes in the form of illegal performance-enhancing drugs.

While this isn’t a brand-new thing—athletes have a long history of trouble with the law—does it feel to you like it’s getting worse?
