I'm running a little late this week...

KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy Athlete of the Week honors go to our first wrestling champion of the season this week. In fact, local wrestlers turned in big performances on the opening weekend of the season, but the nod goes to Conrad senior, Hunter Mycke, the defending State B/C Champion at 205 lbs.

Mycke cruised the 205 lb division at the Cascade Invitational, recording a pin one minute and 48 seconds into the championship match. In fact, Hunter pinned each of his opponents in the first period on the way to the championship.

Mycke was also a standout offensive and defensive player for the Conrad Cowboys in the recently completed football season. He was a first team all-conference pick on the offense and the district's first team punter. He was a second team all-conference defensive pick and one of eight all-state picks.

Also nominated this week, Isaac Ramos of Valier who also posted a 4-0 mark at the Cascade Invitational, winning the 132 pound championship. His first two matches were pins in 22 seconds and 1:32 respectively. Valier coach Eric Watson described the Championship match as a 17/14 gym-thrilling triple overtime victory.

Also notable this week, Colton Curry's 33 points in a Valier win over Simms on Saturday.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96-Bozeman Trophy Athlete of the Week, senior, Hunter Mycke of Conrad. The athlete of the week is sponsored locally by McDonald's of Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our athletes with two free value meals each.
