Bozeman trophy athletes of the week in one case seems to keep getting better and better and in another case just continuing an amazing string of victories.

Our female athlete of the week is Shelby freshman Skyler Martin who has broken into the high school golf season with a bang. Out of six tournaments this season Skyler has won five of them including the last three in a row. Not only is she winning tournaments but posting scores that the area has not seen for years.   Only twice has Skyler shot above the 80’s and one could partly be attributed to the nasty weather. Possibly the most impressive victory was the win at the Eagle Bend course in Bigfork where she shot an 88 and beat the two nearest competitors by six strokes. A round of 40-45 to win the Marias Valley Invitational in the opening tournament of the season also caught the attention of golf fans. First year head coach Travis Clark says “Skyler thrives on competition and something that a lot of people don’t see is how she is pushing the other girls on the team to get better………evident in the high team finishes that Shelby is coming up with. As a freshman, Skyler also worked her way into a starting role on the Coyote basketball team and in three rotations on the Shelby volleyball team.

Our male athlete of the week gets his second award for the season.   Cut Bank junior Seth Omsberg, an all-state basketball player is now displaying his jumping ability and speed on the track. Last week at the Columbia Falls Invitational, Omsberg posted wins in the long jump and high jump and finished third in the high jump. Add a 4th in the 100m dash for good measure. Things got even better in the Cascade Lions Top Ten Meet at Memorial Stadium. Ombsberg went 6’3” in the high jump to win that event. He finished second long jump and triple jump and raced to a 3rd place finish in the 100m dash. No team scores were kept at the top 10 meet but if they had been, it would have been a big boost for cut bank.  He racked up 32 points in all, best among all male athletes. Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the week…..freshman Skyler Martin of Shelby and junior Seth Omsberg of Cut Bank.  Out athlete of the week is sponsored locally by McDonalds in Cut Bank. Mcdonald’s honors our athletes of the week with two free value meals each.
