Choteau is this week's hot spot for our KSEN/K96 - Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the week. Male Athlete of the Week honors go to a familiar name in local wrestling circles. Senior, Taner Stone is the defending state B/C Champion at 160 pounds and is ranked first in that weight class again this season. Stone may have been among the favorites to win the CMR Holiday Invitational this past weekend in Great FRalls, but even those who maybe weren't surprised that he won were impressed with HOW he won. First year head coach Sam Armstrong, quoted in the Choteau Acantha this week, said "He just completely dominated". KSEN’s own, Gary Goodan, who covered the tournament, said about the same thing. Not only did Stone win five matches in a combined five minutes and four seconds, he won the tournament's "Quick Pin Award", a high honor in the prestigious holiday tournament. As you might also imagine, he was named Choteau's wrestler of the week.

Our female Athlete of the Week, also from Choteau, came up big for the lady Bulldogs basketball team in tough wins over Townsend and Fairfield. A three-point shot for the sophomore forward, Whitney Durocher, when Choteau was down by two with only twenty seconds left in the game, which the Bulldogs won by two over Townsend. She ended the game with thirteen points and led the team with eight rebounds. Against Fairfield on Monday night, Whitney hit four of six free throws late in the game as the Eagles mounted a rabid comeback. The sophomore also had numerous plays that were big for Choteau late in the game, including rebounds after Fairfield missed free throws to get Choteau the ball and six steals for the lady Bulldogs, who remained undefeated.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96 – Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, senior Taner Stone of Choteau and sophomore Whitney Durocher of Choteau. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's of Cut Bank who honor our Athletes of the Week with two free value meals each.
