BOZEMAN TROPHY ATHLETE’S OF THE WEEK ARE ACCOMPLISHING AMAZING THINGS FOR THEIR INDIVIDUAL TEAM AND THE TEAMS THEY’RE PLAYING FOR HAVE A COMBINED RECORD OF 19-1.

FOR THE LADIES, ONE OF THOSE ATHLETES THAT IS PROBABLY ELIGIBLE FOR THE AWARD WEEK IN AND WEEK OUT.  6-1 FAIRFIELD JR. FORWARD NATALIE KLINKER COMPLETED GAMES THIS PAST WEEKEND WITH 25 POINTS AGAINST ROCKY BOY AND 11 AGAINST LEWISTOWN.

KLINKER IS NOW AVERAGING OVER 20-POINTS A GAME AND HAD A SEASON HIGH 29 IN THE LADY EAGLES TOUGHEST VICTORY OVER BROWNING TWO WEEKS AGO.    BROWNING COACH RAY AUGARE TOLD US THEY JUST KEPT POUNDING THE BALL INSIDE TO HER AND THERE WASN’T MUCH WE COULD DO TO STOP IT, EXCEPT FOUL AND SHE MADE HER FREE THROWS.

AND IT’S NOT JUST THE POINTS, FAIRFIELD COACH DUSTIN GORDON SAYS SHE IS PLAYING WELL ON BOTH ENDS OF THE FLOOR, ALSO AVERAGING ABOUT 12 REBOUNDS PER GAME, A VERY IMPRESSIVE NUMBER.

IN COACH GORDON’S WORDS, “NAT IS A RELENTLESS REBOUNDER WITH THE ABILITY TO SCORE IN MULTIPLE WAYS – ALL OF WHICH START WITH CONSISTENT HARD WORK.”

OUR MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK IS JUST A SOPHOMORE AND MAYBE STILL GETTING HIS FEET WET DURING THE EARLY PART OF THE YEAR, BUT NOW GAINING CONFIDENCE AND SHOWING SUNBURST FANS SOME JAW DROPPING MOVES.

SOPHOMORE TREYTON PICKERING HIT A SOLID 27 POINTS IN THE REFINERS BIGGEST GAME OF THE YEAR LAST FRIDAY NIGHT AGAINST UNDEFEATED POWER.    HE CAME BACK WITH 23 AGAINST THE NEXT BEST TEAM IN THE 10c DISTRICT…..SIMMS ON SAT. NIGHT….. KSEN SPORTSCASTER DEAN LERUM WAS AT THAT GAME SATURDAY AND SAYS IT WAS NO SMALL TASK PLAYING ONE OF THE BEST POSTS IN THE 10C DISTRICT……JAKE BLOOM.   HE ALSO DESCRIBED A DRIVE WITH A WRAP-AROUND THE WAIST TO THE LEFT SIDE THAT WAS AS SMOOTH AS HE’S SEEN.      PICKERING IS AVERAGING IN THE HIGH TEENS SCORING AND HAS MORE THAN 11 REBOUNDS PER GAME.

SUNBURST HEAD COACH NATE ASCHIM SAYS AT 6-4 WITH GOOD BALL HANDLING SKILLS, IT’S NICE TO HAVE PLAYER WHO CAN STILL BRING THE BALL UP THE FLOOR AND HELP BREAK THE PRESS FROM THE ALSO NOMINATED FOR ATHLETE OF THE WEEK THIS WEEK…..SR. TREVOR MOORE OF CHOTEAU AFTER WINNING THE CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE CHOTEAU CLASSIC.  HE’S THE NUMBER ONE RANKED WRESTLER IN CLASS B-C IN THE STATE AT 126 AND DEFEATED THE #2 RANKED WRESTLER TREY SIMANTON.

AND HEAVYWEIGHT JUSTIN PFEIFFER OF CUT BANK WHO HAS HAD AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE CHOTEAU CLASSIC FOLLOWING UP A 2ND PLACE FINISH IN CUT BANK, A 5TH AT THE CMR HOLIDAY CLASSIC AND A CHAMPIONSHIP AT SUPERIOR.
