Chickenfoot drummer Chad Smith wasn’t able to head out with the band for its fall “Road Test” tour due to his commitments to his “other” band, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, so Kenny Aronoff manned the kit in his absence. The ‘Foot did test runs of material from the recently released album ‘III’ and Smith was there in spirit. He kept in touch with his mates the entire time and may have even watched some footage from the shows on YouTube.
The Muppets‘ fruitful association with classic rock continues. In this viral video, the oft put-upon but always gentlemanly lab assistant know Beaker offers his acoustic and meep–filled rendition of ‘Dust in the Wind’ by Kansas to an online audience. He certainly puts his own unique stamp on the tune.
If you’ve read (and believe) the now-legendary stories in the book ‘Hammer of the Gods,’ then you’d think that life as Led Zeppelin‘s roadie would have been a decadent, hedonistic existence. Jeff Beck and Robert Plant have reportedly discussed working together on a musical project of unknown shape and size. It would certainly be a case of legend partnering with legend, if it does indeed happen.
It must suck to be Axl Rose right now. The Guns N’ Roses singer, who granted VH1 Classic’s ‘That Metal Show’ host Eddie Trunk an hour long interview on Sunday morning (Oct. 30) at the ass crack of dawn, is reportedly suffering from both bronchitis and Montezuma’s Revenge. Yikes!
James Gang drummer and founder Jimmy Fox recently recalled how he first linked up with guitarist Joe Walsh in an on-air interview with WCNX. Fox gave the guitarist his start in the power trio, so he effectively discovered Walsh in terms of a national audience.
Mwuhahahaha! Alice Cooper is returning to the big screen! The shock rock legend will play himself in a small cameo role for Tim Burton’s ‘Dark Shadows,’ the forthcoming big screen version of the cult classic TV show.
