Bob Dylan Photographer Barry Feinstein Dead at 80
One of the more important behind-the-scenes men of rock ‘n’ roll died Thursday morning. Barry Feinstein, a photographer best known for iconic album covers, passed away at the age of 80 in northern New York. The Associated Press reports that he had been hospitalized with an infection.
Feinstein is recognized for his photographs of Bob Dylan, including the cover of the 1964 album ‘The Times They Are A-Changin’.’ The first pages of photographs at Feinstein’s website are all of Dylan, and the photographer published a book called ‘Bob Dylan World Tours 1966-1974′ with over 150 of his finest portraits of the singer.
Feinstein also took hundreds of well-known photos of celebrities, politicians and rock stars, from Jimmy Carter to Steve McQueen to Miles Davis. Two other iconic album covers he’s responsible for include George Harrison‘s 1970 solo album ‘All Things Must Pass’ and Janis Joplin‘s ‘Pearl.’
Feinstein leaves behind his wife Judith and two children from previous marriages.
