There’s a nip in the air

It's amazing, is it not! The last day of August and the weather has taken a turn for fall. Cooler temperatures and all that and you can almost smell the change in the air. That said, there's still some summer activities/events/fun things to do as September comes rolling in

Knock me over with a feather

You could have knocked me over with a feather this morning when I reported for duty at our KSEN/K 96 studios. I perused our weekend sports schedule and noted that our sports play-by-play man was going to

Time to hang up our poles

As summer slowly slips away and Labor Day comes bounding in, it's time to draw the curtain on the Old Fishing Hole for another season. This weekend's program will be the last until spring. It seems like only a second ago that it was the first week in May and I was getting ready for this summer's programs

Fear of roller coasters

Are you afraid of roller coasters? I get nervous just walking by the merry-go-around at a carnival. My special guest this afternoon (Friday) at 4:35 on the Puffman Show will be Pete Trabucco. Fear of roller coasters? I'm fearful that I won't be able to pronounce the guy's last name! Pete was once afraid of the ol' leap-the-dips but now he's eager to tell our listeners how he overcame his fear and went on to author "America's Top Roller Coasters and Amusement Parks

A Wonderful Summer

That's the title of a Robin Ward tune from the early 60's and it rings really true as we race through August and into September. I can't believe that our 4 county fair has come and gone as well as Whoop Up Days, 4th of July weekend in Choteau, Grizzly Day, and Dutton Fun Day not to mention all the other fun activities this summer

It will be a “grizzly” kind of day

This Saturday, the 6th of August, marks this summer's Grizzly Day celebration in Dupuyer. I've been there a time or two before and I can't wait to go back this year. Of course, on the way, I'll stop by the Lighthouse and chew the fat about fishing with Bob Kovatch who's a great asset to my Old Fishing Hole program

Author Josh Kelly Visits Shelby to Talk Jack Dempsey

Back in 1921, not long after oil had started gushing from our northern Montana fields, real estate sales here in Shelby were declining, dimming our little town's prospects of becoming the "Tulsa of the West." Then the mayor's son dreamed up a marketing ploy: offer to host heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey's next fight.

What began as a publicity stunt soon spiraled into a civic drama unlike any Montana had ever seen, or would ever again.

FAITH AND FREEDOM

From a childhood along the back roads of Texas, to Music City and on to the stages of Broadway, meet Gary Morris. Gary will be my special guest this afternoon (the Fourth of July). I'll be debuting the title cut and new single, "Faith and Freedom" from his latest CD. Gary is dedicating this very song and arrangement to the US Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard asĀ  a July 4th Thank You to our military. The man has an amazing voice and is probably best known for his signature rendition of the classic "Wind Beneath My Wings" in addition to his starring role in Broadway's "Les Miserables". I know you'll enjoy the CD and I'm looking forward to meeting Gary this Fourth of July Monday afternoon. And by the way, happy 4th! Check out one of his Videos after the jump:
