The Fairfield boys had a big day in the field events. Bo Harris, a junior, won both the shot put and discus; junior Trace Brady had the top javelin throw; and senior Slade Allen and junior Collin Allen finished second in the triple jump and long jump, respectively.
Slade Allen also won both the 110 and 300 hurdles. Sophomore teammate Tucker Meyer was second in both of those races. Check out all the boys results after the jump...
Lead on the track by Senior Deni Fitzpatrick, and in the field by junior Jordyn Vaile, the Cut Bank girls walked away with their second consecutive win in the District 1B Meet with a lead of 55 points over their nearest competition, the Cascade Badgers. Fitzpatrick won the 100 meters in 13.1 seconds, the 200 in 27.5, the 100 hurdles in 16.0 and the 300 hurdles in 47.4. Vaile placed first in the shot put and the discus and fifth in the javelin. Last night, at the Shelby Elks Club, KSEN/K96 in conjunction with Bozeman Trophy presented a Male and Female Athlete of the Year 2010/2011.
Dinner was catered by TLC Catering of Shelby and we had 33 of our 38 athletes in attendance. Athletes, parents, family and friends enjoyed a fantastic lasagna dinner and listened to Coach Mark Sampson, of the MSU Northern Lights Football team, talk about being proud to win, using your influence over other students to get more of their classmates involved in the winning tradition continued by the athletes in the room last night. I'm happier than a fisherman who just caught an 18 inch rainbow to be back this year as executive producer of this award winning program. Joining me again this season will be "Rovin' Don Groven from Havre to report on the Fresno fishing action, "Dangerous" Dallas Denter from the cleaners/bait shop/Red Wing Shoe headquarters in Chester with his Tiber reports, not to mention Bruce Auchley from Fish, Wildlife, and Parks in Great Falls and "Rusty" Bob Kovatch from the Lighthouse in Valier with all the Lake Francis fishing results.
The 7th Annual Cut Bank Shootout, co-ed basketball tournament will be held in Cut Band June 3 through June 5th at the Willie DeGroot Memorial Gymnasium. Entry is $300 per team and cash prizes will be awarded
