This may not seem like a really "local" story, but my daughter is a pole vaulter, she's just getting started, but she really loves it! She has gone to Helena to camps led by the Helena High Pole Vault Coach, Doug LeBrun. We were going to see him this weekend for a brush-up before the track season officially begins on Monday. He was quite a guy and I know that the kids in Helena, and around the state, are going to miss him.
I think everyone knows, I'm a Cut Bank Wolf Fan, I've been a fan since my eldest daughter started kindergarten there in 1996. I'm proud of the people I know there, proud to be a part of the community and I'm proud of Brian Kavanagh. He's a good coach and, in my opinion, a good guy. He's helping to develop young men that will lead our community in the future.

The Fairfield Eagles are bringing home the 2011 State Class B Girls Basketball Trophy from Butte after a 46/37 win over the Malta M-Ettes.
The State A Boys Champion is Columbia Falls. The State A Girls tournament was won by the Butte Central Maroons. The State C Girls title went to Saco-Whitewater.
The Cut Bank Wolves adn the Malta Mustangs survived morning action in Shelby on Saturday and will meet in the consolation match at 6:30. That game will be followed by the championship game featuring the host Shelby Coyotes and the Wolf Point Wolves
Fairfield and Malta will meet Saturday evening for the State B Girls Title. The state tournament (Class A Boys and Girls, Class B Girls and Class C Girls) scores and brackets are up to date, check them out after the jump:
With tournament action going full tilt, it seems like there is more life than ever up here on the High Line. Our Shelby viaduct may be half closed but that doesn't stop all the visitors coming into Shelby. (see an earlier blog for a short cut) The Puffman remains busy at the radio station manning the control boards as we twist the dials and turn the knobs in order to broadcast all the games over the ether waves and on the internet. I wish I could attend the tournaments and perhaps some day I can and perhaps even broadcast a game or two.
