5 Most Memorable Accountants From the Movies

Often a character in a movie will be made an accountant to indicate that they're . . . well . . . boring.

But being a movie, this boring accountant has to be put in an interesting situation or nobody is going to want to pay ten bucks to see it.

So, in fact, many celluloid accountants turn out to be interesting and dynamic characters, rather than just soul-less bean counters.

We've compiled a list of five famous movie accountants in honor of tax season, which is also the season of the accountant.

Box Office Report: Russell Brand Beats Russell Brand

The weekend box office brought good news and bad news for comedian Russell Brand.

The good news: Brand's live-action/animated comedy 'Hop' took the top spot for the second weekend in a row, with $21.7 million. That marks a 42 percent drop from last weekend, bringing the film's grand total to $68.2 million thus far.

Unfortunately, Brand's other movie, 'Arthur,' a remake of the Oscar-winning '80s comedy starring Dudley Moore, underperformed with audiences, bringing in just $12.6 million. The movie, which also stars Greta Gerwig, Jennifer Garner and Helen Mirren, suffered from poor reviews that likely killed its word of mouth.

Mel Gibson Snaps New Mugshot Same Day His New Movie Premieres

According to the LA Times, Mel Gibson swung by an LAPD precinct last night to be fingerpinted and have his mugshot taken after last week's no contest plea to the charges of battery pressed by ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

Mel's new movie, man-puppet love story "The Beaver" premiered at the South by Southwest film festival in Austin the same day. Costar Jodie Foster was on hand, but Gibson was understandably absent.

James Franco and Anne Hathaway’s Opening Monlogue For The Oscars [VIDEO]

James Franco and Anne Hathaway were certainly outside-the-box picks to host the 83rd annual Academy Awards.  And after a pre-taped opening in which they tried to elicit advice from last year's host Alec Baldwin by channeling his dreams, “Inception” - style, the duo weren’t required to do a whole lot of heavy lifting in their opening monologue.

In it, they made reference to how their youth was intended to appeal to a new younger demographic.  Then  they spent a good chunk of the monologue acknowledging their elders:  Hathaway had a conversation with her mother, who was in the audience, and Franco did the same with his grandmother.  Read on to check it out.
