It’s Worth the Fight

"It's Worth the Fight" began as an educational event for veterans and their families hosted by the Washington DC VA Medical Center last month. This past Veterans Day, men across the U.S. began learning why harnessing their inner resolve can help them in fighting a threat that results in about 33,000 deaths each year

'm doing an interview this afternoon (Thursday) at 4:35PM about Sinatra's favorite watering hole and guess what? It wasn't the Dixie Inn! It was a joint down in Vegas named "Jilly's" that was a favorite Rat Pack hangout

To or NOT to be tested

The US Preventive Services Task Force is recommending that PSA screening of asymptomatic men age 50 and older be discontinued. Personally, I feel this is nuts! In other words, if you're over 50 years of age and are not experiencing any problems in your water works department, they don't want a PSA blood test for all of the $65 or $70 that it will cost you and/or the insurance company. I'm not a doctor nor do I play one on the radio, but I realize that almost no medical tests are 100% accurate. That is to say, many, many tests come back with either "false/positive" or "false/negative". My guest this Monday afternoon completely disagrees with me.

Martina McBridge went along for the ride

Wide Open Country star Martina McBride rode the rails last week to promote her latest release, her new album "Eleven". This 4 day, exclusive trip took her all the way from Los Angeles to New York with 11 stops along the way. She performed intimate concerts for fans in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Chicago and New York. The tour was called "Eleven Across America Powered By Amtrak" and this afternoon (Tuesday) at 4:35 on the Puffman Show, I'll be talking with Christina Leeds from Amtrak Public Relations back in Washington D.C. Christina must have one swell job with the Amtrak people...she got to ride along on McBride's train ride.

Meet the Lizardman

He's "the Lizardman" and he's my guest at 4:35 this afternoon (Friday) on the Puffman Show. This guy is a pioneering figure in the world of body modification. And I thought my two radio microphone tattoos were odd! The Lizardman has endured an estimated 650 to 700 hours of tattooing. He's had five Teflon horns subdermally implanted above each of his eyes to form horned ridges, four of his teeth have been filed into sharp fangs, his tongue has been bifurcated (split) and get this afternoonsiders: The Lizardman estimates the work done to transform him would, at full price, cost close to $250,000 and he's still not done!

If you liked last winter, fasten your seat belts

If you enjoyed last winter here in the Golden Triangle, the Puffman Blog has some "good"(?) news for you today. La Nina, the main factor responsible for all the cold and snow last year, is back! According to the National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center, La Nina conditions have returned and are expected to slowly strengthen and continue throughout the winter months. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration defines a La Nina as a period of cooler-than-normal sea-surface temperatures in the central and eastern tropical Pacific ocean, caused when cold water from deep in the ocean wells up to the surface.
