Play Ball…Ladies!

Thanks to Tom Bergeron (no, not the Dancing with the Stars guy) for a great story about the first high school baseball game with two female starting pitchers! The story is very well done, with an interesting angle about one girl who has received much notoriety for playing with the boys, while the other has even been attacked for her choice of baseball over softball.

James Franco and Anne Hathaway’s Opening Monlogue For The Oscars [VIDEO]

James Franco and Anne Hathaway were certainly outside-the-box picks to host the 83rd annual Academy Awards.  And after a pre-taped opening in which they tried to elicit advice from last year's host Alec Baldwin by channeling his dreams, “Inception” - style, the duo weren’t required to do a whole lot of heavy lifting in their opening monologue.

In it, they made reference to how their youth was intended to appeal to a new younger demographic.  Then  they spent a good chunk of the monologue acknowledging their elders:  Hathaway had a conversation with her mother, who was in the audience, and Franco did the same with his grandmother.  Read on to check it out.

The Rock Returns to Wrestling [VIDEO]

Dwayne Johnson is returning to wrestling. The artist still known as The Rock was introduced last night as the surprise host of Wrestlemania 27, which will take place in Atlanta at the end of March.

Johnson, whose last ring appearance was in 2004, left professional wrestling to pursue a career in acting. The 38-year old told the crowd at WWE Live Monday night that “I am back in the ring” and that “I am never, ever going away."

Johnson still has three movies in production, according to IMDB, so his film career isn’t necessarily over because he is wrestling again.

Mark Wahlberg is known for the tattoos he displayed on his shoulders and around his neck. But the actor feels like he has outgrown his ink, and had been getting his tattoos removed.

On "The Tonight Show," Wahlberg described the painful process as “like being burned with hot bacon grease."

In fact, Walhberg takes his two oldest children with him to his tattoo removal sessions, in hopes that his suffering will encourage them never to get tattoos.

Runner completes 365 Consecutive Marathons [VIDEO]

Belgian runner Stefaan Engeles has just completed a marathon for every day of the past year.

Saturday was the 49-year-old’s 365th consecutive 26.2 mile race, shattering the record of 52 consecutive marathons set by a Japanese man last year.

Engeles attributed his ability to run for so long to the fact that he doesn’t run very fast. However, his average of about four hours per marathon is still 30 minutes faster than the average finishing time in the New York City marathon.

Overall, Engels ran 9,569 miles.

Meet Max Page, The Little Boy From The Darth Vader Commercial [VIDEO]

A Volkswagen ad in which a little boy dressed as Darth Vader attempts to use the force has been declared by many to be the best commercial of the Super Bowl, and has garnered over 16 million additional hits on YouTube.

On the ‘Today Show,“ the pint-sized Vader was revealed to be six-year-old Max Page, who admitted he had never seen "Star Wars" or heard of Darth Vader before auditioning for the role.
Page, an actor who appears on the soap opera “The Young and the Restless,” was born with a congenital heart defect and was given pacemaker at three months old. According to his mother, his long-term prognosis is good.

This little guy even has a Montana connection.  Check out the Great Falls Tribune Story about him and his Great-Grandpa from Power Montana.

7 Singers Who Flubbed the National Anthem [VIDEO]

Christina Aguilera has the right kind of voice to belt out a memorable national anthem. Unfortunately, her performance at Super Bowl XLV will be remembered for the wrong reason.

As you’ve probably heard, Aguilera flubbed the anthem, forgetting the lyric "o’er the ramparts we watched."

Aguilera is far from the first person to botch the Star Spangled Banner. Check out last night's flub and seven other singers who made a mess of the anthem on much smaller stages.

5 Most Memorable Super Bowl Halftime Performances Ever [VIDEOS]

For its first couple decades of existence, the Super Bowl halftime show featured marching bands or “Up With People”-type musical medleys. Unfortunately, but the only folks who really got excited about those performances were the families of the performers.

Over the last 20 years, the Super Bowl halftime stage has become home to top hits and the increased star powers of popular musical acts.

We’ve compiled a list of the five most memorable of these legendary Super Bowl halftime shows, which should be the ones the Black Eyed Peas try to match when they take the field this weekend at Cowboy Stadium.
