Teacher Tapes Chatty Student’s Mouth Shut [VIDEO]

A local Florida teacher took discipline to a whole new (read: bizarre) level last week when she reportedly taped her chatty student's mouth shut with packing tape.

13-year-old seventh grader Jazlyn Freel claims the incident took place during a routine science class.

"She asked me to stop talking, and then a couple minutes went by, and I started to talk again, and she came to me and put it on my mouth," she said. "I had to cough, so I took the first piece off, so she went into her desk, and she took another piece out, and she put it on my mouth again."

Beware Tsunami Aid Scams!

This from the Associated Press:

"UNDATED (AP) - Scammers already are trying to take advantage of the outpouring of compassion  following Japan's earthquake and tsunami disaster. Foldable, Electric-Powered Bicycles Just Might Be the Wave of the Future [VIDEO]

If you've got $3,600 to spare and don't mind folks gawking at you from behind the wheel, it might be time to invest in a "YikeBike." Conceived as a faster and lighter alternative to the Segway, the YikeBike is a foldable electric bicycle that was ranked by Time Magazine as one of the best inventions of 2009.

It looks kind of like a unicycle with a training wheel, but its inventors say it could change the way we get around. What do you think — wacky invention or wave of the future? CNN's full video story on the YikeBike is after the jump.

Colombian Authorities Capture Drug-Smuggling Submarine [VIDEO]

Acting on tips from informants, soldiers in Colombia have seized a 99-foot fully submersible submarine that was intended to be used for drug smuggling.

The fiberglass boat had enough room for eight tons of drugs and a crew of six, and enough power to make the eight-or- nine-day trip from Columbia to Mexico totally underwater.

It hasn’t been uncommon for Colombian authorities to catch narco-traffickers with semi-submersible submarines, but smugglers using fully submersible subs is more unusual. It is estimated the sub cost two million dollars to build.
