Who's doesn't remember that old "house song" from the late Rosemary Clooney! The City of Shelby's housing assistance program is still going strong these days. This Shelby Homebuyer Assistance Program gives low and moderate income families an opportunity to buy a home here in Shelby through a no-interest, deferred loan program. It's been a wonderful program and a God-send to our community. The program is designed to assist the prospective homeowner with down payment, and/or closing costs. It's all thanks to our clear thinking visionary city government officials and a Community Development Block Grant for Neighborhood Housing Renewal which got awarded to the City of Shelby from the Montana Department of Commerce. If you're interested in putting down some permanent roots, contact the Shelby Community Economic Development Office for your application materials. Their number is 424 8799. Once you fill out and return your City application form, it will be verified for eligibility in the program and you'll have a chance to sign up for a home buyer education course through North Central RC&D offices. I'm not sure if Rosemary Clooney knew about this program when he sang her hit record back in the 50's, but I do know that she would salute our mayor and our city government for obtaining this block grant and doing what is GOOD for Shelby and you. Soon some of you might be singing, "come on-a My House. Good luck to you!
