Is It Time to Move Fans’ Seats Back? — Sports Survey of the Day

After Saturday’s horrific accident at Daytona International Speedway, is it time that fans sit back a little further from the action?

Fans have always wanted to be closer to the action when it comes to sports—courtside seats in the NBA, field level at a baseball game, and track-side at a race. The only sports that really sit the fans far enough away from the players are hockey and football.

The NASCAR wreck begs us to ask, just how close is too close? Should fans have to sit a little farther back, or will sports audiences see big attendance drops by not offering those up-close seats?
