That's NOT what they're having for dinner tonight (Tuesday) up at the Marias Heritage Center...it's what we'll reading about this evening during Montana History at the Heritage. We're really enjoying the book, "Montana High, Wide, and Handsome." In fact, we're smack dab in the middle of chapter 3, "Dry Bleached Prairie Bones." This "fine fat buffalo meat" was welcomed by the Nez Perce tribe as a change from the stringy beef they were getting from the government. Joseph Kinsey Howard's (former news editor for the Great Falls Leader) tome is a fantastic read with a preface by A.B. Guthrie Jr. & a NEW introduction by William Kittredge. I'm looking forward to reading & sharing more Montana History at 6 tonight at the Heritage.
