National Pasta Day celebrates one of the world's food staples in all of it's 600 varieties. In 2000, 1.3 million pounds of pasta products were sold in American grocery stores, and Americans eat 15.5 pounds of pasta per capita every year.That sounds like a lot, but I'm told the average Italian eats 51 pounds per year.
