Holocaust Survivor to Speak in Choteau, Fairfield, Shelby

Holocaust survivor and author Inge Auerbacher, will be talking about her experiences as a young child imprisioned in Nazi concentration camps and her family’s struggle to survive the holocaust and build a new life in America.  Along with presentations in several area schools, there will be evening events for the public:

 Wed. May 8-7pm Choteau High School Auditorium

Thu. May 9-7pm Fairfield High School Gymnasium

Fri. May 10-7pm Shelby High School Auditorium

 Admission is free.

The Choteau and Fairfield programs are sponsored by the Teton County Development Corporation. The Shelby program is sponsored by the Toole County Friends of the Library in cooperation with the TCDC.

Three Choteau high school students, Charley Yeager, Amanda Willekes and Tylee Patton, are credited with starting the move to bring Mrs. Auerbach to the area, and they raised the initial funds to do so. The Teton County Development Corporation agreed to handle the donations. (Since TCDC is non-profit, donations are tax-deductible.) Donations will be accepted at each event, to build a fund (administered by TCDC) to bring future speakers of interest to the Golden Triangle. Donation checks should be made payable to the TCDC, with the notation "Community Presentation" in the memo.

Mrs. Auerbacher's books include I Am a Star, which tells of her family's internment in a Nazi concentration camp. Beyond the Yellow Star to America chronicles the family's post-war struggles and journey to America. Her books will be available for sale at the community events.
