John Lennon‘s six-month sojourn in Bermuda, which ultimately helped provide much of the music for 1980’s ‘Double Fantasy’ album, has inspired a new app scheduled to debut in the Apple store this fall.

Vintage Vinyl Music reports that the app, John Lennon: The Bermuda Tapes, is due to go on sale Nov. 5. Users will reportedly be able to recreate a boat trip Lennon took, retrace his path of exploration across the island and — most importantly for Beatles fans — listen to his demos for ‘(Just Like) Starting Over,’ ‘Woman,’ ‘Nobody Told Me,’ ‘Dear Yoko’ and ‘I’m Losing You.’

Released Nov. 17, 1980 — just three weeks before Lennon’s assassination — ‘Double Fantasy’ found the former Beatle at a personal and professional crossroads after spending the better part of five years in self-imposed exile following the birth of his son Sean. Working without a label, Lennon set sail for Bermuda from Rhode Island, eventually accruing dozens of potential tracks before signing a deal with the just-launched Geffen Records.

Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono, who’s directing proceeds from the app toward WhyHunger‘s ‘Imagine There’s No Hunger’ campaign, shared her excitement in a press release, saying, “Writing ‘Double Fantasy’ was a very exciting time creatively for both John and me. I think the album app captures the sense of discovery and the artistic dialogue that John and I shared at that time and provides a new way to help us imagine a world without hunger.”
