King’s X Drummer Jerry Gaskill Exits Hospital – Pic of the Week

We are nothing if not strict sticklers for the rules here at Ultimate Classic Rock, so you may be surprised to see this extra pic of the week popping up.

But when we see an image like this one, in which King’s X drummer Jerry Gaskill raises his hand triumphantly after a harrowing stay in the hospital, we throw caution to the wind and try living a little.

Gaskill was released yesterday (March 21) from the hospital just three weeks after a heart attack and emergency surgery.

Though no one could fault the guy for taking some well-deserved time off, his spirits seem high enough that we wouldn’t be surprised to see him back behind the skins very soon, perhaps when the band’s aborted tour resumes.

It’s always great to see a band dip into their live archives to offer fans a treat — doubly so when the proceeds help a worthy goal. To help Gaskill with his medical bills, King’s X has put together a special download-only live title, ‘Burning Down Boston: Live at The Channel 6.12.91.’ All proceeds go directly to defray the cost of Gaskill’s medical treatments.

Those who wish to donate a personal gift to Jerry can mail checks to: Jerry Gaskill, c/o World Entertainment Inc., P.O. Box 3095, Sea Bright, NJ 07760. For more information visit
