(SHELBY) – SOME OF THE FAMILIAR ATHLETES IN THE SPRING SPORTS ARE RISING

TO THE TOP EARLY…….SUCH IS THE CASE OF OUR KSEN/K96 – BOZEMAN TROPHY ATHLETES

OF THE WEEK THIS WEEK.

OUR MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK IS SHELBY JR. GOLFER BRIDGER MARTIN.   AFTER

A SUCCESSFUL SOPHOMORE SEASON IN WHICH MARTIN FINISHED SECOND IN THE NORTHERN

DIVISIONAL AFTER A PLAYOFF AND THEN PLACED IN THE TOP 20 IN THE STATE MEET, HE HAS

GOTTEN THINGS GOING EARLY IN THE NEW SEASON.

TWO TOURNAMENTS PLAYED AND TWO TOURNAMENTS WON WITH ROUNDS OF 80

IN BOTH TOURNAMENTS AT HIS HOME COURSE MARIAS VALLEY.   SHELBY HEAD GOLF COACH

DAVE MADISON SAYS THE REAL STORY ABOUT THAT FIRST TOURNAMENT IS THAT BRIDGER

STRUGGLED WITH A 43 ON THE FRONT NINE BUT THEN KEPT HIS FOCUS AND SHOT A ONE OVER

PAR 37 ON THE BACK 9.     MADISON SAYS THAT’S SO IMPORTANT IN GOLF AND BRIDGER’S FOCUS

IS SO STRONG……HE DOESN’T GIVE UP.    MADISON ALSO NOTED HE’S ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP

YOUNGER GOLFERS WITH THEIR SWING.     BRIDGER WAS ALSO A DEFENSIVE STARTER ON THE COYOTE

FOOTBALL TEAM AND A MEMBER OF THE SHELBY BB TEAM.

OUR FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK IS ALSO FROM SHELBY………JR. DISTANCE RUNNER

KIM PARSELL WHO WON THREE EVENTS AT THE CUT BANK BOOSTER INVITATIONAL SATURDAY.

ANYONE WHO COULD RUN AND FINISH IN THOSE 50 MILE AN HOUR WINDS IN CUT BANK

DESERVES A PAT ON THE BACK, LET ALONE WIN BOTH THE 800 AND 16OO.

THE MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENT OF THE DAY, HOWEVER, MAY HAVE BEEN THE HIGH JUMP.

PARSELL WON WITH A JUMP OF 5-1.   NOT TOTALLY CERTAIN IT WAS A PERSONAL BEST BUT IT WAS

BETTER THAN HER 4-10 AT THE STATE MEET LAST YEAR AND THE WINNING JUMP A YEAR AGO WAS

5-4 IN CLASS B, SO THE 5-1 IS A GOOD PLACE TO BE AT THIS POINT OF THE SEASON.   (BY THE WAY THE

STATE B RECORD IS 5-7 HELD BY SKYLA CISCO OF MALTA WHO REACED THAT MARK IN 1991 AND 1993.)

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR KSEN/K96 – BOZEMAN TROPHY ATHLETE’S OF THE WEEK,

JR. BRIDGER MARTIN OF SHELBY AND JR. KIM PARSELL OF SHELBY.     OUR ATHLETE OF THE WEEK IS

SPONSORED LOCALLY BY McDONALDS IN CUT BANK.    McDONALDS REWARDS OUR ATHLETE’S

WITH TWO FREE VALUE MEALS.
