Most people don't know how serious a health concern bladder cancer really is until it strikes. For the 3rd year in a row, the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network & the their many volunteers across the country will be doing a "Walk for Bladder Cancer" two weeks from this Saturday, May 4th.  The Walk for Bladder Cancer brings needed attention & a sharper focus on this very common, but rarely talked about, disease. Bladder cancer is ONE of the MOST commonly diagnosed types of cancer in our country, ranking in the top 10 in terms of incidence, but only 22nd on the list of cancers for which the government funds research. Yet, more than 72,000 new cases are expected to be diagnosed in 2013 with nearly 14,000 people dying from the disease this year alone! I encourage you to visit the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network at www.bcan.org & check out the Walk for Bladder Cancer map. I realize there will probably not be a walk in our region, but hopefully some day, we can get one put together. Together, we CAN rally support NATIONWIDE to help conquer one of the most under recognized & DEADLIEST forms of cancer affecting so many lives.
