Most of you know that my middle name is "sports" and I'll be adding to that legend this afternoon (Friday) at 4:35PM when I talk with John Greenburg. Greenburg probably knows as much or more about sports as I do as he already written several book on legendary college football teams and hall of fame coaches. The "legendary coach" we'll be discussing today WON'T be my old coach from my Penn State Football days, Joe Paterno, but rather "The Grand Old Man". That's actually the title of his historical biography about Amos Alonzo Stagg, a legend and pioneer who helped shape collegiate football as we know it today. His work even transcends into the NFL these days, with huge ties to the Green Bay Packers among other top teams. Stagg's historic career lasted some 7 decades, coaching well into his 90's...even older than old man Paterno! As Gary Goodan likes to say, "good afternoon sports fans"...I'll see you at 4:35 this afternoon and I'll be giving away a copy of the Amos Alonzo Stagg book as soon as I run out of questions to ask author Greenburg. That should be about 18 seconds into the interview!
