Life on a ranch can be funny & frustrating, exhilarating & distressing, but it is never, ever boring. Just ask Pondera County's Lisa Schmidt. Lisa is hosting a book signing this afternoon (Thursday) down in Great Falls at the Great Falls Tribune, 205 River Drive South. Lisa will be sharing her new book, "Prairie Ponderings: Adventures in Raising Your Food" this afternoon between 4:30 & 6:30 at the Tribune building. I'm already a big fan of Lisa's Sunday column in the Trib & her new book is fantastic AND funny! Lisa relates a ton of adventures at The Graham Ranch in Pondera County, the ranch she shares with her husband, Steve Hutton, & her children Will, 16 & Abby, 8. The Graham Ranch was homesteaded back in 1889 & is one of only a few in the area to remain just as Lewis & Clark saw it when they passed through in 1805 & 1806. The ranch is almost completely native perennial prairie & Lisa & Steve plan to keep it that way. Check Lisa's book "Prairie Ponderings: Adventures in Raising Your Food" at: ALandofGrass@3riversdbs.net & hang on tight for stories of life at the Graham Ranch! The book is now available at area stores here in north central Montana. Stop by the Tribune this afternoon, meet Lisa, & pick up your copy. It's great reading (just like Lisa's Sunday column) & would make a cool Christmas gift.
