AS IT TURNS OUT, HEIGHT IS NOT THE LEADING CAUSE OF KILLS ON THE VOLLEYBALL COURT AND JUST ANOTHER H0-HUM WIN FOR THE FAIRFIELD EAGLES AND OUR MALE ATHLTE OF THE WEEK DAWSON ALLEN.

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS GO TO SR. SETTER SKYLER MARTIN WHO LED SHELBY TO 3 CONFERENCE WINS LAST WEEK OVER CUT BANK, CONRAD AND ROCKY BOY.  HEAD COACH RON BUCK SAYS SKYLER IS LEADING THE TEAM IN NUMEROUS CATEGORIES.   ONE THAT’S EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO THE TEAM SUCCESS IS SUCCESSFUL 1ST PASSES AND THEN MAYBE MOST IMPRESSIVE ON PAPER IS SERVING WHERE SKYLER WAS 100-PERCENT IN THE 3 MATCHES LAST WEEK.   ONLY 3 ACES BUT IN REGARDS TO PUTTING IT IN PLAY…….PERFECT ON APPROXIMATELY 40 SERVES.

THE NUMBER THAT ALWAYS CATCHES MY ATTENTION IS THE NUMBER OF KILLS FOR A PLAYER THAT’S RIGHT AROUND 5’ 5”, MANY TIMES THE SHORTEST PLAYER ON THE COURT, BUT ALSO THE TEAM LEADER IN SHOTS UN-RETURNED BY THE OPPOSITION.

COACH BUCK CREDITS THE SUCCESS TO HER ABILITY TO SEE THE FLOOR, SPOT THE OPEN SPACE AND TAKE THE OPEN ANGLE AROUND THE BLOCKERS.  IN THE 3 MATCHES LAST WEEK SKYLER HAD 27 KILLS, AN AVERAGE OF 9 PER MATCH,  ANOTHER TEAM LEADING STATISTIC.

ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD, THE FAIRFIELD EAGLES ARE CRUISING…..ANOTHER UNDEFEATED SEASON AND A LOT OF LOPSIDED GAMES THAT HAVE SEEN COACH LES MEYER’S TEAM OUTSCORE OPPONENTS BY APPROXIMATELY MORE THAN 200-TO 30.

WITH THOSE KINDS OF SCORES THE BALL GETS SPREAD AROUND AND NO SINGLE INDIVIDUAL COMES UP WITH HUGE NUMBERS, BUT DEFINITELY A MAJOR CONTRIBUTING FACTOR, SR. DAWSON ALLEN, AS FINE AN ALL-AROUND ATHLETE AS THERE IS IN MT.  H.S. RANKS.   ALLEN SCORED ONCE IN THE MALTA WIN 43-0 AND IN THE PREVIOUS WEEK HAD TWO PUNT RETURNS FOR TD’S AND NEARLY A 3RD.

THE EAGLES ARE OFF TO A 5-0 START AND RANKED NUMBER ONE IN THE STATE IN CLASS B FOOTBALL.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR KSEN/K96—BOZEMAN TROPHY ATHLETE’S OF THE WEEK, SR. DAWSON ALLEN OF FAIRFIELD AND SR. SKYLER MARTIN OF SHELBY.  THE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK IS SPONSORED LOCALLY BY McDONALD’S IN CUT BANK.   McDONALD’S HONORS OUR ATHLETE’S WITH TWO FREE VALUE MEALS EACH.
