While most media organizations strive to be fair in their reporting (you know, that whole objectivity thing), the majority of Americans think that their bias still shows through in their political coverage.

According to a recent poll from the Pew Research Center of 1,507 adults, 37 percent believe there is a “great deal” of bias in political news coverage. Thirty percent say there is a “fair amount” of bias, 21 percent answered there is “not too much” bias and 10 percent said there is no bias in political coverage.

When asked the same question in 2007, only 30 percent perceived a “great deal” of bias.

Party affiliation has a lot to do with how folks view bias in political reporting. In the 2012 survey, 49 percent of Republicans saw ” a great deal” of bias in coverage, whereas 32 percent of Democrats and 35 percent of independents did.
