The South Regional featured only two games when the NCAA Tournament began its barrage of games Thursday, but don’t you dare confuse quantity with quality because both were compelling matchups.

Thursday’s final game featured tournament darlings VCU demolishing Akron. Despite a sub-par scoring effort from potential player of the year Trey Burke, Michigan thumped South Dakota State and Nate Wolters earlier Thursday evening.

Demetrius Treadwell scored 15 points to lead Akron, which made just one of its 13 three-point attempts.
