Montana’s Next Generation Conference 2015 - January 30 & 31, Shelby MT

Farmers and Ranchers: Don't miss Montana's Next Generation Conference coming up Friday, January 30 and Saturday the 31st. Let's talk about Saturday first. This conference is for all Generations and with over 36 workshops it'll be like picking candy from a box of Godiva Chocolates. Lots of wonderful options!

With tax season in full swing, the workshops featuring tax code updates about the depreciation rules, the new repair expense rules, like/kind exchanges could really save your pocketbook. Top those off with a mock IRS audit to help you know what records you really need to keep. The thing about tax rules is you need to know them NOW at the start of the year so you can plan.

If you are looking for points for your private or commercial Pesticide Applicator license there will be four points available with four of the workshops. There will be crop scouting, precision agriculture, crop insurance, strategic fertilizer and chemical programs.

Livestock producers will have a wide selection of beef cattle nutrition, genetics and bull selection, forage management, and reproductive success in the beef herd. We have both Dr. Trindle and Travis Standley back by popular demand. It's all there for beginners or experienced producers.

Now let's flip back to Friday, which starts off with Kevin Spafford who can take a topic that can sound intimidating and make it fun, interesting and pertinent. Kevin is really in with the crowd and easy to be around. Many of us want to pass the ranch/farm from one generation to the next but how do we do that in a successful way? It's not all about the money and insurance policies. There is more, it is growing the successors up in the business so that they can be successful and pass it on. This isn't estate planning, this is the people planning.

Then slip into relaxations with a no-host social and trade show, big ol' roast beef dinner and a keynote address from Sandra Hare, "Understanding the Personalities of the Generations."  The grand finale?? Halladay Quist's powerful smooth voice will tease us in bluegrass, country, and folk music. A great end to a pretty awesome day.
