Nicolas Cage Says He Wants a Career Like Led Zeppelin’s

As he prepares for this Friday’s nationwide opening of ‘Ghost Rider: Spirt of Vengence,’ actor Nicolas Cage says he’s taking a more big-picture approach to a career that has included starring roles in films like ‘The Rock,’ ‘Raising Arizona’ and ‘Leaving Las Vegas.’

During an interview for the Huffington Post, Cage said winning another Oscar doesn’t interest or motivate him. “I would like to find a way to embrace what Led Zeppelin did, in filmmaking,” he says.

“What I’m excited about is trying to create a kind of a cultural understanding through my muse that is part of the zeitgeist that isn’t motivated by vanity or magazine covers or awards. Not countercultural, but counter-critical.”

Cage says he admires how the rockers consistently went against advice from their label and management team. It was their mystery that added to their appeal. “And I admire that. And I would like to tap into more exploration of horror films and just everything that I shouldn’t be doing, according to representation.”

Ironically, Cage talks about his admiration for how little press Led Zeppelin did during an interview with a senior writer for Moviefone about a major motion picture. His transition is more of a long term vision, it seems.
