No Sight But Insight

He's world famous author & Conrad native Dale Sheldon(!) & we'll be enjoying more of Dale's new book, "Who Lost?" tonight (Tuesday) up at the Marias Heritage Center here in Shelby. The obvious difference between sculptor Dale Sheldon & other artists is that he is totally blind. In hindsight, he realizes that losing his eyesight just before his 4th birthday helped him see that raising a family & running a business in rural Montana is not for the faint of heart. If you ask me, Dale's not afraid of anything...even a game or two of Let It Ride! What a story fearless Sheldon has to relate. Last week we read of Dale's journey to Washington DC for schooling to become a Russian interpreter. Dale was complaining about everything...he didn't like the humidity back east, he didn't like having to get his vehicle safety inspected (no wonder that he started repairing his own vehciles!) & he didn't think much of the traffic patterns in downtown DC. While learning to become a Russian interpreter, Dale learned how to talk like a Russian, think like a Russian & drink vodka like a Russian & he became proficient at all three! What a story.
