One of my hero's, (right up there with Bob Dylan) passed away this last week. Singer, Songwriter, Poet, Icon...Leonard Cohen died at age 82. If you're a Leonard Cohen fan, I strongly suggest checking out Sylvie Simmons' fascinating book on Mr. Cohen, "I'm Your Man: The Life of Leonard Cohen. Whether navigating Mr. Cohen's journeys through the backstreets of Mumbai or his countless hotel rooms along the way, acclaimed music journalist Simmons explores with equal focus every complex, contradictory strand of Cohen's life-from the halls of academia to the arenas of rock 'n roll as she presents a deeply insightful portrait of both the artist & the man whose vision, spirit, depth & talent continue to move people like no one else. A few months back, I spent close to 4 hours one Saturday night listening & watching Leonard Cohen videos/tunes on the internet, & I was ready to take the gas pipe. It's good stuff though. Back in 1993, Mr. Cohen, when asked if he was a pessimist, told the London Daily Telegraph, "I don't consider myself a pessimist at all. I think of a pessimist as someone who is waiting for it to rain. And I feel completely soaked to the skin." WHOA!! Check out the new York Times Bestseller, (NOW available in paperback) from Eccobooks, an imprint of HarperCollinsPublishers. You WON'T be disappointed even if you're not a Leonard Cohen fan like the Puffman!
