A "Special Train" is making it's 1st Hi-Line stop for America's Railroad in Havre this weekend! Powered by a specially painted locomotive celebrating veterans & showcasing the past, present & future of America's Railroad, the AMTRAK Exhibit Train will be open to FREE tours today, today (Friday), tomorrow & Sunday at the AMTRAK station over in Havre. Veterans groups & Havre Mayor Tim Solomon are invited to welcome the Exhibit Train to Havre at 11 this morning. The Exhibit Train will be open today, tomorrow & Sunday from 11 until 5 in the afternoon with a drawing for a pair of AMTRAK Empire Builder round-trip tickets between Havre & Seattle. Each Exhibit Train visitor will also receive a discount coupon for the Havre Beneath the Streets historical tour. Our good friend from AMTRAK in Chicago, Marc Magliari, will be joining me on the Puffman Show this afternoon in the 4 o'clock to fill us in on this spectacular event! The Exhibit Train features displays including workable signals, virtual sleeping accommodation tours & trivia, the locomotive control stand & horns. In addition, it features photos, uniforms, vintage advertising & memorabilia from AMTRAK's beginning in 1971 to today's modern-sleeping cars & high-speed rail service. EXCLUSIVE AMTRAK collectables are also available for purchase, including a limited amount of Empire Builder merchandise. The Exhibit Train includes 2 locomotives, 3 renovated baggage cars & one bistro car (I'll take a Samuel Adams!), ALL with historic paint schemes. This is a refreshed & UPDATED version of the popular 40th anniversary train that celebrated AMTRAK history with a tour in 2011-2012. The locomotive with the Exhibit Train commemorates the 59th anniversary of the Vietnam War & honors those who have served. AMTRAK painted the locomotive red, white & blue with a specially designed "America's Railroad Salutes Our Veterans" logo & 50 starts. It is making its 1st appearance with the Exhibit Train on the Hi-Line & also a symbol of an AMTRAK commitment of 25% of new hires to be veterans by 20155. Locomotive 42, chosen in celebration of the 42nd year of AMTRAK service, was painted as part of a regularly scheduled upgrade. Next year, our AMTRAK Empire Builder will celebrate 85 years of service between Chicago & Seattle & I feel that I speak for all of us here in the Golden Triangle when I say that we are mighty grateful & appreciative to AMTRAK & ALL their employees for the great service they provide for us. "AMTRAK on the Mainline" is TRULY our lifeline! Looking forward to talk with Marc "All Aboard" Magliari this afternoon around 4:30.This guy has a great radio voice & I still want him to do some Puffman Promos for me! I can hear them now..."Puffman, Puffman, All Aboard, Puffman.
