What’s the way to a rocker’s heart? By showing a little bit of your wild and kinky side! That’s exactly how it was with Aerosmith‘s frontman and ‘American Idol‘ judge Steven Tyler and his new bride-to-be, Erin Brady.

“The first time I saw her, she worked for Clear Channel, so she was paying the band,” Tyler explained Tuesday (Jan. 17) when he was a special guest on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ [quotes via Us Weekly]. “One night, she had this hair band on around her head. She looked really old-fashioned. So I took her back in the room, and she tied me up with it and I thought, ‘I’m marrying this girl.’ Exactly that way.”

Tyler did pop the question to Brady over the Christmas holiday while the two were vacationing in Hawaii. While some of the singer’s family are rumored to not be on board with the future nuptials, Tyler says that Brady has helped keep him on the straight and narrow, especially after entering rehab “probably five or six times.”

“I don’t want to go back to that place,” he said during the interview with DeGeneres. “That place lost me, my kids, a marriage, a band — a lot of things — and it’s for real. That’s how dangerous that is. So I take [my two years of sobriety] seriously.”

No word yet on when Tyler and Brady will be walking down the aisle, although he recently eluded to the fact that it will happen “soon enough.
