232 Firefighters continue efforts to control the Sucker Creek Fire, which now covers 2740 acres north of Lincoln on the Helena National Forest. The fire is 25% contained, and has moved into the burn scar from a 2003 wildfire.  Due to concerns for firefighter safety and multiple incident objectives, The Incident Management Team has determined that offensive actions will not be taken in the snag-laden Snow Talon burn area. The burn scar will be lined and fire will be allowed to slowly burn from log to log over the next several weeks. On the southeast and northwest portions of main body of the fire burnout operations were initiated yesterday and will be continued today.

The Alice Creek evacuation has been lifted and the road is now reopened. All other closures and evacuations remain in place for the next few days. Evacuations will be lifted as soon as the fire is safely secured in those areas.
