Ok - here we go - all the updated brackets:
Ok - here we go - all the updated brackets:
The Browning Lady Indians defeated Belgrade 71/60 in an early afternoon game yesterday. Havre downed Livingston in the evening game 54/28 to set up a Browning -v- Havre Championship game at the CM Russell Fieldhouse Saturday night at 6:30
CJI just keeps rolling on - one more game and they're off to the State Tournament!
In action yesterday - CJI downed Chinook 48/43 in overtime, that placed CJI in the consolation game against North Star, which the Lady Hawks won 43/30
I've updated the brackets and they are after the jump:
Once again, we want to bring you every second of basketball possible, so we're busy trying to figure out some way to get the CJI game to you along with the Browning Boys game and all the Northern B Girls Action
Tournaments can get a little rough around here - trying to cover everyone as much as possible. We had a conflict between the Browning Girls and the CJI Girls, but Choteau helped up out (by winning their game), so we have room for Browning on KZIN (96
CJI and Roy/Winifred gave us a little flashback this morning when Roy/Winifred tied the game at 40 with seconds left! CJI proved they can play in OT with a final of 51/50 to stay alive and wait for the loser of the Winnett/Grass Range -v- Chinook game to play tomorrow afternoon at 12:30pm
The CJI Lady Hawks gave the North Star team all they could handle through four quarters. Unfortunately, they were unable to score in the overtime, giving the Knights the 49/40 win. That puts CJI in Loser-Out Action starting in the morning (8am to be exact)
It's the District 10C Girls Basketball Tournament from Conrad, and there is one more thing to be decided! Will the Valier Panthers go on to the Divisional? Or will it be the Dutton/Brady Diamond Backs?? We'll find out tonight on KZIN - 96
This week's athletes are a well know athlete from Fairfield and a young athlete from Valier who's just getting started:
Senior Wide Receiver, Colin Allen of Fairfield is a big play maker for the Eagles. In their win over Cut Bank in the final week of the regular season Allen scored two touchdowns (about his average) and caught a BIG 74 Yard pass for a score in the game. Allen is also the extra point man for the Eagles and he got three of those. He finished the game with five catches for 180 yards.
Our female athlete of the week this week is Sophomore Hitter Stephanie BullChild of Valier. Bullchild is described by her coach as "hardworking and extremely coachable". Stephanie is a real force in the front row.
I have been everywhere from Heart Butte to Conrad and Cut Bank to watch youth sports this past month. In this case I mean real youth like the Jr. High Volleyball teams. I have one daughter playing 6th grade volleyball and one playing 7th, so they travel together and we watch the Shelby 8th graders as well. To watch their improvement is great fun the idea of playing to win also takes hold. One of my daughters friends and ours, Kim Parsell served eight points in a row to bring the 7th graders back from an 8 point deficit in Cut Bank Monday night.
