The Doors to Release New Song ‘She Smells So Nice’ Shortly
It’s been more than 40 years since Jim Morrison died, and we haven’t exactly had a shortage of Doors compilations over the ensuing decades, so you could be forgiven for thinking we’d heard everything there was to hear from the band’s original lineup.
But, as it turns out, you’d still be wrong: While combing through the sessions for the band’s ‘L.A. Woman’ album, Doors producer Bruce Botnick recently unearthed a previously unreleased song — and it’s scheduled to make its debut via Facebook next Monday (Jan. 9).
Titled ‘She Smells So Nice,’ the song arrives amid a flurry of Doors-related activity, including a double-disc ‘L.A. Woman’ reissue and a new documentary about the album, titled ‘Mr. Mojo Risin’: The Story of L.A. Woman.’ The film, scheduled for a Jan. 24 DVD/Blu-ray release, includes new interviews with surviving Doors Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, and John Densmore, as well as Botnick, manager Bill Siddons, and Jac Holzman, founder of the band’s label, Elektra Records.
In addition to ‘She Smells So Nice,’ the expanded ‘L.A. Woman’ will include eight previously unreleased alternate versions of album tracks, as well as rehearsal reels and a behind-the-scenes DVD. It’s scheduled to reach stores alongside ‘Mr. Mojo Risin” on Jan. 24.
