Both the NBA and NHL postseasons are nearing their championship rounds. Here’s what to watch this weekend:

Friday, May 31

French Open

Roland Garros Stadium, Paris; various times on ESPN2 / Tennis Channel; through June 9
Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams are the top seeds in the men’s and women’s draws at the 2013 French Open. The tennis tournament wraps up its first week of play this weekend. Matches continue through June 9.

Saturday, June 1

NHL Playoffs: Western Conference Finals Game 1 — Los Angeles Kings at Chicago Blackhawks

United Center, Chicago; 5 p.m. (ET) on NBC Sports Network
With each team emerging from a grueling seven-game series, the top-seeded Chicago Blackhawks face the defending Stanley Cup-champion Los Angeles Kings in the Western Conference Finals. Chicago’s Marian Hossa and Patrick Sharp will lead the attack on Kings goalie Jonathan Quick, while Los Angeles’s Mike Richards and Jeff Carter work against Blackhawks netminder Corey Crawford. Game 2 is scheduled for Sunday night.

NHL Playoffs: Eastern Conference Finals Game 1 — Boston Bruins at Pittsburgh Penguins

Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh; 8 p.m. (ET) on NBC
The top-seeded Pittsburgh Penguins battle the Boston Bruins in the first game of the Eastern Conference Finals. Pittsburgh will rely on Sidney Crosby, Pascal Dupuis and Kris Letang against Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask. David Krejci, Nathan Horton and Milan Lucic provide the offense for Boston against Penguins goalie Tomas Vokoun.

NBA Playoffs: Eastern Conference Finals Game 6 — Miami Heat at Indiana Pacers

Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Indianapolis; 8:30 p.m. (ET) on TNT
The Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers’ best-of-seven Eastern Conference Final series is tied at two games apiece heading into Thursday night’s Game 5 in Miami. Whichever team triumphs on Thursday has the opportunity to advance to the NBA Finals on Saturday night in Indianapolis. As expected, LeBron James has led the Heat, while Pacers center Roy Hibbert has become an unstoppable force in the paint for Indiana.

San Francisco Giants at St. Louis Cardinals

Busch Stadium, St. Louis; 7:15 p.m. (ET) on Fox
The National League Central-leading St. Louis Cardinals (35-17) pit baseball’s best record against the defending World Series-champion San Francisco Giants (28-25) in a prime-time matchup. The Cardinals send Adam Wainwright (7-3, 2.48) to the hill to face San Francisco’s potent lineup, while the Giants start Madison Bumgarner (4-3, 3.13) against the St. Louis hitters.

Sunday, June 2

FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks

Dover International Speedway, Dover, Del.; 1:15 p.m. (ET) on Fox
Jimmie Johnson brings a 32-point lead in the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup standings into Dover for Sunday’s race. Carl Edwards, Matt Kenseth and Clint Bowyer all hope to close ground on Johnson, who won the 2012 edition of this event.

Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees

Yankee Stadium, Bronx, N.Y.; 8:05 p.m. (ET) on ESPN
The Boston Red Sox (32-22) and New York Yankees (30-22) begin another chapter of baseball’s best rivalry with a three-game series this weekend in New York. Sunday’s game finds Ryan Dempster (2-6, 4.45 ERA) on the mound for the Sox against a Yankees lineup anchored by Robinson Cano. Hiroki Kuroda (6-3, 2.39) will start for New York against Boston hitters Dustin Pedroia, David Ortiz and Jacoby Ellsbury.
