Among the many opportunities presented by comedian Tracy Morgan‘s freedom from ‘30 Rock,’ we were most excited to see that the one-time ‘SNL‘ star would work with FXX’s ‘Always Sunny‘ team to develop his very own cable sitcom. The recent news of Morgan’s vehicular accident and injuries put the project’s status into doubt, but FX has now gone on the record to assure fans that the project will await Morgan’s recovery before moving forward.

“The only thing we are concerned with is the health and recovery of Tracy Morgan and the victims of this tragic accident,” read a statement from the cable network on Morgan’s FXX series. “We will support Tracy and his family in every way possible throughout his recovery. At the point when Tracy has recovered and decides that he is ready to go back to work, his show will be waiting for him. Right now our thoughts and prayers remain with Tracy, the other victims of the accident, and their families.”

No details had yet been established of the ‘Untitled Tracy Morgan Project,’ other than FXX’s 10-episode order and half-hour format, which was to be developed by ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ team Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton and Luvh Rakhe. The new series is also independent of the ‘Death Pact‘ FX comedy Morgan had earlier been attached to.

Morgan continues a promising recovery from the six-car crash on the New Jersey Turnpike, wherein his limo-bus was rear-ended by a tractor trailer, flipping Morgan’s vehicle and ultimately claiming the life of mentor James McNair. We’re glad to see FX and FXX awaiting Morgan’s recovery before deciding the fate of the series, but what say you? Should the project be scrapped to allow Morgan more time to recuperate?
