Tuesday Night At The Heritage
I’ll be back up at the Marias Heritage Center this evening, Tuesday, reading more “Montana History” & I can’t wait to get back into our current book, “Glacier From the Inside Out”. We should be finishing up this great adventure in the next couple of weeks & I’m already hoping that it never ends! The stories in this tome from The Glacier Park Foundation are ALL 1st person accounts covering a century of park history as told by those who know glorious Glacier the best, the Insiders. They tell of coming-of-age experiences in a mountain paradise, of characters past & present, & of lessons learned to last a lifetime. Ray Djuff & Chris Morrison put all this together & what a marvelous job they have done. I encourage you to check it out at the Glacier Park Foundation: www.glacierparkfoundation.org. Speaking of the Glacier Park Foundation…all friends of Glacier National Park in Montana (& who’s not!) are invited to join the Foundation. Membership includes a subscription to “The Inside Trail”. AlltThe stories in this book ARE the BEST stories from “The Inside Trail”. With your membership, you get the right to vote for directors. You can download a membership form from their website or send your name, address, phone number & park experience to Glacier Park Foundation, Box 15641, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55415. An annual membership in the foundation costs $10. A “Friend of the Park” membership costs $25 annually, culminating in a “Lifetime” membership paid in 1 installment costs $100. The Glacier Park Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. A “tip of my hat” to the Foundation for giving us this great read up at the Heritage Center. After reading almost 3/4 of this book, if I was 30 years younger, I would “hire on” at the park this coming season for summer employment AND fun! I’m not sure if I would like to be a Red Jammer driver, work in the kitchen, or man the front desk at one of the rustic Glacier hotels. Perhaps I could “rotate” & experience doing all three! I’m leaning toward driving one of those Jammers up & down Going To The Sun!.Fasten your seat belts! They DO have seat belts, don’t they?? See you tonight at 6 for more “Montana History” at the Marias Heritage Center here in Shelby.
