I'll be up at the Marias Heritage Center tonight (Tuesday) reading more Montana History. I'm looking forward to reading more of the book, "Empty Mansions; The Mysterious Life of Huguette Clark and the Spending of a Great American Fortune." Authors Bill Dedman and Paul "CLARK" Newell, Jr. have uncovered the surprisingly rich life of Huguette Clark, an enigmatic heiress to a copper-mining fortune from the Gilded Age who had not been photographed in public since the 1920's. Her story is a fairy tale told in reverse: a daughter born with the bags full of gold who locks herself away. It's a fascinating read...probably one of the BEST we have ever enjoyed during our Tuesday evening Montana History reading at the Heritage. The Clark family story encompasses the entire span of American history in just 3 generations, from a log cabin in Pennsylvania to mining camps in the Montana gold rush, from cross-country travel in private railroad cars of the 19th century to a police investigation in one of the largest apartments on Fifth Avenue in the 21st century. Looking forward to joining you tonight at 6 o'clock SHARP for more Montana History at the Heritage.
