Valier’s Jordan Stoltz in new 4-H Documentary

July 06, 2012 — MSU News Service

A documentary about 4-H in Montana will debut July 23 on MontanaPBS.

“4-H: 6 Montana Stories,” will air on MontanaPBS on Monday, July 23, at 8 p.m. It will repeat Thursday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m.

The documentary from MontanaPBS follows six Montana kids who participate in 4-H, the youth development program of MSU Extension. The program, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, is the largest out-of-school youth development program in Montana. One in six Montana kids are involved.

“I knew absolutely nothing about 4-H when I took this project on,” said Gus Chambers of MontanaPBS, who wrote, produced and directed the documentary. “I thought it was just sows, cows and plows. A quaint slice of Americana that was rapidly disappearing from the cultural landscape. Like most things, I was completely wrong.”

MontanaPBS is a public broadcasting service licensed to KUFM-TV at the University of Montana and KUSM-TV at Montana State University.
