Van Halen debuted another song from their new album ‘A Different Kind of Truth’ in concert last night, delivering the anthemic ‘Blood and Fire’ for the first time to a paying crowd.

As the mighty Van Halen News Desk reported, the band also dusted off ‘Jamie’s Cryin” from their debut album, which hadn’t been played so far on this tour but was heard on their 2008 trek. Comparing the setlist to recent shows, it seems ‘Fire’ took the place of fellow ‘Truth’ track ‘The Trouble with Never’ (good move!) and that ‘Cryin” filled in for ‘Hear About it Later.’ (We should also note that the band played ‘Fire’ at their open L.A. rehearsal show.)

We did a readers poll a couple of weeks back, asking which of the new ‘Truth’ tunes fans would most like to see added to Van Halen’s setlist, and it looks like our readers and the group are pretty well in sync, because ‘Blood and Fire’ is currently in the top three. ‘Stay Frosty’ is running away with the contest though, and we maintain it would make a heck of a great medley with ‘Ice Cream Man.’

VHND also reported that Van Halen rehearsed ‘Light up the Sky’ from their second album three times before the concert, so be on the lookout for that one at future shows. Who knows, maybe they’ll do ‘II’ start to finish someday, since they’ve been playing so many songs from it on this tour.
